Habit is the brain-child of LA based Aja Frierson, who, with a background in fashion, decided to create an alternative to chemical nail hardeners, which can leave the nails brittle, prone to drying and breakage.
Aja discovered the naturally strengthening qualities of Myrrh extract, which reinforces nails to give them more flexibility. Myrrh is also anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
Vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and 5-free of Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Camphor, and made without animal testing. Habit is packaged in FSC Certified paperboard produced through sustainable forestry, and uses a bamboo overcap, which means less plastic is used.
Here are just some of the toxic ingredients you will not find in any of our nail products that are in the majority of high street and main stream nail varnish brands:
Toluene is neurotoxic. It's vapours may be irritating to the upper respiratory tract and eyes. With repeated or prolonged contact, this product has a degreasing effect on the skin. It can cause redness, peeling and cracking. Inhalation of vapours may cause central nervous system depression.
Dibutylphthalate (DBP) is an endocrine disruptor. Irritation to eyes (lacrimation, conjunctivitis) and upper respiratory tract (nasopharyngitis, bronchitis possible), if ingested or inhaled. Can also cause headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, sensitivity to light and nephrotoxicity.
Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen- avoid any products containing this!
Camphor is known to cause irritation to eyes and/ or upper respiratory tract if inhaled. Can also cause decreased frequency of breathing and can slow the heart rate.
